For Angel Investors
Investing is better, together
While many start out as solo angel investors, joining a group unlocks powerful advantages – shared knowledge, reduced risk, and the chance to build meaningful connections with like-minded people.
Also, we like to invest for impact and purpose, we want to make a difference. A high percentage of our investments are female led, building employment and benefiting the way our future generations will live.

Backing founders. Building futures.

Stronger together
Build your expertise
Many of us start our angel investing by accident or solo. When you’ve tried investing as a group, you can experience the benefits of having a wide range of expertise and knowledge in the room, helping you to determine is an investment is aligned to your objectives.

Intellectually rewarding
As an angel investor, you get to closely support companies and their founders. Considering a range of potential investments is exciting and interesting, giving a sense of purpose.

Financially rewarding
Angel investing is hugely speculative and not for the faint hearted. Through careful analysis of deal flow, we aim to select those companies show the greatest potential of success, but nothing is guaranteed and investors should always be prepared that there is a possibility to lose all of their investment value if a company fails.

Socially rewarding
AIB members are usually exited founders themselves, looking to give back some experience, or working high salary professionals looking to maximise their S/EIS tax allowance. Either way, you’ll meet a range of interesting and very friendly people.
Proven returns
Success stories
It takes many years for companies to provide a return on investment. At the very least, it should be 3 years in order to claim S/EIS allowances of tax free capital growth.
We usually encourage members to take a ‘portfolio’ approach by picking some companies that may have a shorter potential for exit (trade sales for example) mixed with longer term exits which may attract a higher multiple return (med tech for example that requires VC funding downstream).
We’d expect return from companies between 5-15 years realistically.
AIB
“Being part of an angel group is hugely rewarding. It feels far 'safer' investing when you're surrounded by a range of highly experienced people. I'd never have had the confidence to invest in fusion power if investing solo”.

The smarter way to invest
What makes us different
We combine the best of both worlds – bringing together the flexibility and impact of angel investing with the structure, support, and shared insight of a syndicate. The result? Lower risk, better opportunities, and stronger outcomes for both founders and investors

How do we compare to others?
Unlike many networks, Angel Investors Bristol is rooted in the South West and South Wales. We focus on quality over quantity – reviewing 30–40 startup applications each month, but only backing the strongest one or two. Our members bring not just capital, but guidance, expertise, and connections to help founders scale faster.

How do we compare to other investing styles?
Traditional VC funds chase later-stage, higher-value deals. Solo angel investors take on more risk and have limited reach. We sit in the middle – an organised syndicate that shares risk, leverages collective expertise, and invests at the crucial early stages. With SEIS/EIS tax advantages and flexible participation, our model offers both impact and efficiency.
Ready to shape the future together?
Back the South West and South Wales’ most ambitious founders and grow your portfolio with us. Whether you’re new or experienced, Angel Investors Bristol gives you the network, insight, and opportunities to make real impact.
